ORIENTATION PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN
For: Children age four and up
Where: At Funeral Chapel, in Children's Room
When: The children should arrive at 1:15 for afternoon calling
hours or at 6:15 for evening calling hours.
Who: The facilitators of this Orientation Program will either
be Bonnie Anthony, Continuing Care Coordinator, or Nancy Anthony, Director
of Advance Planning.
OUTLINE FOR THE ORIENTATION PROGRAM
Children are greeted at door: As the children enter the Funeral
Chapel the facilitator will greet them.
Children are invited into the Children's Room: This room is a
casual room, which will help make everyone feel more comfortable.
Welcome: The facilitator will introduce herself, and will let
the children know she is here to answer any questions they may have.
TOPICS WHICH WE WILL DISCUSS
- What happens when someone dies?
- What Funeral Directors do
- Taking care of the body(in simple terms)
- Why do we have calling hours?
- The children's feelings
PREPARING THE CHILDREN TO VIEW THEIR LOVED ONE
- The room where their family member is will be described.
- The casket will be described.
- The children that would like to view will then be walked into
the viewing room.
- After viewing we will regroup in the Children's Room for questions.
If you are interested in participating in our Children's Orientation
Program please let the Funeral Director know which calling hours the
children will attend. The Funeral Director will schedule the Orientation
with either Bonnie or Nancy.
